NU METAL

PapaRoach likes doing things differently. That’s one of the reasons they’re a perfect close to nine days of concerts at the Legendary Buffalo Chip Campground during the annual Sturgis Motorcycle Rally.
The video for the band’s latest single, “Forever” didn’t debut in the usual music television media. It debuted on AOL. The video wasn’t directed by big Hollywood director types. It was co-directed by a fan who entered a YouTube Make Your Own “Forever” Video contest.
“Forever” which is from the band’s latest album, The Paramour Sessions is screaming up the rock charts and the band is looking forward to a summer tour of kick-ass rock performances, including their Aug. 11 Sturgis Rally show at the Buffalo Chip.
Sturgis Rally music fans will surely agree with the rest of the world when they see this Northern California alternative metal group consisting of Jacoby Shaddix, Jerry Horton, Dave Buckner, and Tobin Esperance.
Like the Buffalo Chip, now in its 26th year, and the Sturgis Rally, in its 67th year, Papa Roach has a history of success. They formed in
1993 and released a few EP's soon after, including 1994's Potatoes for Christmas and 1995's Caca Bonita. In 1997 they released their first full-length album, “Old Friends From Young Years,” which became a surprise hit on local radio.
Released on Dreamworks in 2000, the band’s second album, “Infest”
with its hit single “Last Resort” went triple-platinum. Their third album, “lovehatetragedy,” appeared 2002 and was followed by “Getting Away With Murder” in 2004.
Frontman Jacoby Shaddix is also seeing success as the host of the hit MTV series 'Scarred' which began on MTV in the spring and features user generated video clips watched by thousands on the Web, or passed around among friends. Prior to “Scarred” few people ever knew who was in the videos or what the stories were behind them. Now for the first time, the people behind these very popular web video clips are allowed to share their stories with the MTV audience.
The Paramour Sessions is the band's fourth consecutive album to debut Top 20 on the Billboard Top 200 Album chart and have established themselves as one of rock’s greatest success stories.

SLIPKNOT

Des-Moines, Iowa’s American heavy metal mask-wearing band Slipknot released in August 2008, their fourth studio album All Hope is Gone on Roadrunner Records. It is the first experimental album by the band to ever peak at number one on the Billboard music charts. Throughout the year, Slipknot were touring all over Australia, Japan, USA, Europe and the UK with Machine Head and Children of Bodom opening up for fans at their concerts.

Since 1995, the band has consisted of the same original line-up with a total of nine members including Sid Wilson, Joey Jordison, Paul Gray, Chris Fehn, Jim Root, Craig Jones, Shawn Crahan, Mick Thomson, and Corey Taylor. Their intense energy and extreme performance style features a typical set-up of lead, rhythm, and bass guitars, two percussionists in addition to the primary drummer, and the mixing of electronics blending samplers and turntables into chaotic energy. Every single one of the slipknot albums challenges this type of sound, turning influences from death, black, heavy and nu metal sounds into an explosive and musically sonic creation. Like a carnival’s rollercoaster, Slipknot music may not be safe for the faint of heart, but it’s definitely right for those looking to chase a dangerous thrill.

Early formations of a band were beginning to form as early as 1992 with the core band members, drummer Shawn Crahan, vocalist Anders Colsefini, and bassist Paul Gray enlisting the help of guitarists Donnie Steele and Quan Nong.

Slipknot formed in 1995
and underwent several line-up changes following the independent release of Mate. Feed. Kill. Repeat. in 1996. Their self-titled debut studio album was released in 1999 and was followed by Iowa in 2001 and Vol. 3: (The Subliminal Verses) in 2004. On August 25, 2008, the band returned to release their fourth studio album, All Hope Is Gone, which debuted at the top spot on the Billboard 200 charts. The band has released three DVDs including 2002's Disasterpieces, which was certified quadruple-platinum in the United States.
